Help
Short guides to the main things you can do in ClimbOut. Button names are shown in bold, as they appear in the app.
Import a statement PDF
ClimbOut can read the statement PDF your bank emails or sends you. You need to sign in with Google the first time you import.
From Gmail
- Open the email with your statement.
- Tap the PDF to open it.
- Tap Share (or ⋮, then Share) and choose ClimbOut.
- If you don't see Share, download the PDF first, then share it from Files.
From WhatsApp
- Open the chat with the statement.
- Touch and hold the PDF until it is selected.
- Tap Share (or ⋮, then Share) and choose ClimbOut.
From Files
- Open the Files app and find the PDF. Downloaded files are usually in the Downloads folder.
- Touch and hold the PDF, tap Share and choose ClimbOut.
Then, in ClimbOut
- The statement opens in ClimbOut, so you can read it.
- When you close it, tap Import.
- If it has a password, see Statement passwords below.
- Choose the card, check every figure and save. You can change any figure first.
You can also start in ClimbOut: tap Import statement, then Choose PDF.
Photograph a printed statement
- In ClimbOut, tap Import statement, then Take photo.
- Hold your phone over each page. Use good light and keep the page flat.
- When all pages are done, check them: card numbers and other long numbers are blacked out.
- Tap Send.
- Choose the card, check every figure and save.
Update a card from a bank SMS
After you use your card, your bank sends an SMS with your available credit.
- In your messages app, touch and hold the SMS and tap Copy.
- A small pop-up appears at the bottom of the screen. Tap Share on it, then choose ClimbOut.
- Check the card and the amount, then tap Save.
No pop-up? Open the card in ClimbOut and tap Update from SMS. It reads the SMS you copied.
Statement passwords
Save a password
- When you open a password-protected PDF, type the password under Statement password and tap Open.
- Tick Remember this password for next month's statements.
Change or forget a saved password
- Open the card in ClimbOut.
- Next to the statement password, tap Change to type a new one, or Forget to remove it.
Your statement password is only used on your phone. It is never sent anywhere or backed up.
Back up and restore your cards
Make a backup file
- Open Settings and find Backup file.
- Tap Export backup.
- Choose a password, type it twice and tap Continue.
- Choose where to save the file, such as your phone, a memory card or a cloud folder.
Keep the file and its password safe. Nobody, not even ClimbOut, can open the file without the password.
Restore a backup file
- Open Settings and find Backup file.
- Tap Import backup and choose your file.
- Type the backup's password and tap Continue.
- Check what will change and tap Replace. The cards on the phone are replaced by the ones in the backup.
Buy and check Premium
Buy Premium
- Open Settings and tap Get Premium.
- Choose 6 months or 1 year.
- Tap Buy with Google Play. Sign in with Google if ClimbOut asks.
- Confirm the payment in Google Play.
Premium is prepaid. It never renews by itself. Buying again before it ends adds the new time to it.
Check your Premium
- Open Settings. Your plan shows as Premium · until the date it ends.
- On a new phone, or if Premium doesn't show after buying, sign in with the same Google account and tap Restore purchase.
Delete your data
- To delete your cards and everything about them from this phone, open Settings and tap Delete all data.
- To delete your account too, open Settings, tap Delete account, then Delete everything.
Read more about deleting your account and data, including how to do it without the app.
